I’ve been a journalist since 1987, when I did a stint as a daily newspaper
reporter at the Malden Evening News, then New Hampshire’s Manchester
Union Leader
, covering everything from planning board meetings to the
Pamela Smart murder case. For eight years, I was a senior writer at CFO
magazine, an award-winning corporate finance magazine with 500,000
readers, owned by the Economist Group. I’ve been a full-time freelance writer
since 2005. In addition to the publications listed on this site, I have written
humor and feature work for USA Today, Skiing Magazine, Powder Magazine,
Aspen Magazine, Fine Magazine, The Denver Post
and the Rocky Mountain
. My work is widely blogged, quoted and, occasionally, maligned.

I grew up in a small farming community in central Massachusetts, where my
earliest goal was to “get the hell out of town,” which I did at age 16. A graduate
of Emerson College, I taught humor classes at Boston’s respected literary
organization, Grub Street Writers Inc. I live in the Manhattan with
my awesome husband, Andrew. I’m an avid skier, touring cyclist, traveler,
beach lover, and a new, overly enthusiastic golfer.
